Learn the magic of weaving on a prepared pre-warped rigid heddle and floor looms.

About this Class

Are you weaving interested and want to try it out? This class is for you! Come enjoy four days of weaving where the looms have all been prepared for your enjoyment.

You will get a brief introduction to the mechanics of the loom and the basics of how to get an even beat and neat selvedges (edges) before you’re set loose to experiment and explore all the amazing things you can do on a loom. You will weave in a round robin, so everyone has a chance to try out different looms.

By the end of this class, you will be able to:

  • Name and identify parts of the loom and their function
  • Wind bobbins for weaving
  • Read weaving patterns
  • Tie up treadles
  • Utilize proper weaving body mechanics
  • Get an even beat on your cloth
  • Advance your warp forward
  • Measure your warp
  • Change weft colors
  • Change between different patterns
  • Remove your piece from the loom
