Teens - join us this Valentine's weekend for an evening of connection and creativity, from your own home! Meet up with your friends or make new friends in breakout rooms with hands-on crafts and games. You won’t need any special materials except typical things you would have around the house!
Read about this month's activities below - at the event you will get to choose which you'd like to attend.
And see below for details about a special contest this month, in addition to our typical raffle prizes available to those who register by 7pm on the night of the event. Must be present at the Teen Night to win. Prizes will be mailed after the event, so be sure to enter your full mailing address in the registration process.
BARN is excited to collaborate with other local organizations including BIMA, Kitsap Regional Library and Boys & Girls Club to offer this evening of activity.
Future teen nights this spring will be held on March 26 and May 7.
Zoom Tile Wow Contest:
Get festive and bring your best display to our Teen Night Zoom this month! Dress up in fancy or funny attire, decorate your room, create a unique virtual background, or otherwise wow our visiting judges with your creativity! They will scope out all Zoom tiles and will award a prize at ‘halftime’ for the teen with the most visually impressive rectangle of the night!
Breakout Room Activities Session 1:
Valentine’s Kitchen Challenge - Battle other teens in a culinary challenge from your own kitchen! Assemble a unique edible creation on the Valentine's Day theme. You can use heart shapes, chocolate, red or pink ingredients, or otherwise represent this holiday in your own imaginative way! Judges will rate submissions in several categories and the teen with the top score will be awarded a BonBon gift certificate!
Valentine’s Paper Crackers - Why not add a festive touch to your weekend? Paper ‘crackers’ are a type of party favor originating in England that resemble a wrapped candy with a few tiny treasures inside. You pull on the ends with a friend or family member to reveal the surprises inside. In this session you will make your own cracker and personalize it with your own special touches. You'll just need to scrounge up a toilet paper tube, some tissue paper (or other lightweight paper), some string or ribbon, and any other optional art supplies you might want to use to decorate.
Drawing Sesh - Cheesy love songs playlist? Check. Valentine’s Day themed still life? Check. Drawing tips and tricks? Check. Join this breakout room to chill out and draw with Emma, from Bainbridge Island Museum of Art. Bring your own paper and drawing implements of your choice (pencils, markers, charcoal, etc.)
Minecraft - Enter a special Minecraft survival world custom-made by the members of Boys & Girls Club Keystone Leadership Club. There will be some PVP challenges, TNT run, and other fun. Must have the newest Java (PC) version (1.16.4). Sorry, no Xbox or PS4 or Mobile versions (or Chromebooks) will work for this session.
Breakout Room Activities Session 2:
Friend Facts Game Show - Join this breakout room with a friend to compete in Teen Night’s #1 Hit Game Show, “Friend Facts?” -- Test your knowledge of each other through fun trivia questions, like “What is your friend’s favorite thing to order at a coffee shop?” and “Who is your friend’s celebrity crush?”, and so much more. Participants who join solo will be paired with a stranger for the chance to win double points for all correct answers.
‘Among Us’ Game Rooms - Make new friends while playing some rounds of this popular survival game. We’ll have one room for those new to the game, and a room for experienced Among Us gamers.
Superpower Hour - Whether you're a Marvel or a DC fan, and into the movies, shows, or comic books, you'll enjoy hanging with other superhero fans in this game and discussion room. There will be trivia questions for you to answer and new facts and theories to learn from others.
Chill Out Room - Hang out here if you feel like just chilling out, doodling, or chatting.
