High school students in grades 9 - 12 are invited to create and hang out at BARN on Teen Nights! Come enjoy free food and drink. Play games in the BARN Commons. Explore a Studio project and learn new skills. Bring friends. Meet new friends!
In addition to a drop-in art-making station, we will have the following projects available in our studios for our November Teen Night:Macramé Key Chains
Learn the foundations of macramé by making a key chain or two for yourself or to gift. You can leave your piece in the classic off-white color, or dip-dye it in a color of your choice.
Orientation to the Woodshop
This is the first step for teens ready to start on the path to getting certified to use the BARN Woodshop! This one-hour powerpoint presentation and tour of the studio will cover everything from shop etiquette to specifics of studio policies and the next steps for getting signed off to use the tools in the studio.
Thai Fried Rice
Spend an hour in our Kitchen Arts Studio making delicious vegetarian Thai Fried Rice!
Notan Cut Paper Art
Notan is a Japanese word for ‘the combination of the extreme values of Black & White.' In this session, you'll start with 4" squares of black paper that will be cut as desired, then flipped over onto white paper, becoming a mirror image to the black cut-outs. Use your imagination to see what you can create in this beautiful art form!
Carve your own landscape designs in easy-cut print material, then choose your ink colors and print on cork to take home.
Beading in our Jewelry Studio:
Beading can be therapeutic after a busy week! Come on into our Jewelry Studio and string beads to your heart's content. Make a necklace or bracelet for yourself, or create a necklace to contribute to BARN's community service beading for seniors project.
