Learn the basics of letterpress. Learn how to set type by hand and control the production of a printed piece from start to finish.  You will be guided through the process of making two letterpress projects.  The first is a set of ‘calling’ or business cards, personalized with your information and images (choosing from a wide variety of antique image blocks).  The second is a broadside with a very simple phrase or quotation.   Bring a favorite quote, short poem, or song lyric.  You’ll set it in antique metal type and illustrate it with image or design and print it on a small platen press.  You’ll share your prints with everyone else in the workshop, and come away with a simple portfolio of prints.  Once you have taken this course, you have access to the letterpress equipment at the BARN during open studio time.
